Breakeven exchange rate calculator.
If you sell at a fixed price in one currency and buy the goods in another, every contract has one exchange rate that matters more than any forecast: the rate at which it stops making money. Work it out below for any pair of currencies, and the rate that still leaves you the margin you want, on the day you sign.
Work out your breakeven rate
For a contract priced in one currency with goods bought in another. Change any figure or currency; the result updates as you type.

If 1 USD costs more than 11.7563 GHS, this contract loses money. noeud works this out for every open order and watches it daily.
Breakeven = (contract value × (1 − overheads) − other costs) ÷ cost of the goods. Worked out in your browser: your figures are never sent or stored. Information, not advice.
How the breakeven rate is worked out
Take what the customer pays you, set aside your overheads and any costs in the same currency, and divide what is left by the foreign-currency cost of the goods. That is the most each unit of that currency can cost before the contract stops paying for itself. To keep a margin, set it aside too before you divide.
With the figures above: GH₵1,000,000 less 10% overheads leaves GH₵900,000. Divided by the $76,555 of goods, that is 11.76 cedis per dollar. Keeping a 5% margin means setting aside another GH₵50,000, which gives 11.10. Signed at 10.45, the dollar could rise 12.5% before this contract loses money. It settled at 11.90.
Why this number, and not a forecast
No one can tell you where any currency will be in 90 days. You can know, today, how far it can move before a contract stops working. That turns an open question into a line you can watch, and a decision you can make while there is still time.

What happens to the figures you enter
Nothing leaves your browser. The calculation runs on this page, and closing it clears every figure. If you add your business name, we receive that name and the two currencies you picked, so we know which businesses use the tool. We never receive amounts, rates or margins.
